GENERAL INFORMATION

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR JAMAICA?


To enter Jamaica a valid passport is required. Citizens of the U.S, the UK, Canada and other major European countries are not required to have a visa to visit Jamaica, but must present a valid passport when leaving and or re-entering their country. All visitors are required to travel with a return ticket or onward ticket for entry into Jamaica. ARE VACCINATIONS REQUIRED?


Vaccinations are not necessary for travel to Jamaica from the US, Canada, United Kingdom or any major European country. We recommend you speak to your doctor for more information.


DO I NEED TO BRING AN ELECTRICAL ADAPTER?


The electrical supply in Jamaica is 110 volts/50 cycles standard, and electrical appliances use plugs that are two-pronged and flat (such as those used in the United States and Canada).If your appliances do not use 110 volts or flat two-pronged plugs, we recommend bringing the requisite adaptors and converters with you. For your convenience, hair dryers are provided in every Jewel guest room.


WHAT CREDIT CARDS DOES JEWEL RESORTS ACCEPT?


We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We also accept debit cards.


IS A CREDIT CARD REQUIRED AT CHECK IN?


Yes, a credit is required upon check-in for any incidental charges during your stay. If you prefer to not give a credit card cash may be used, a deposit in the amount of $200 USD per room is required upon check in.


DO I NEED TO BRING MONEY AND EXCHANGE MY CURRENCY TO JAMAICAN DOLLARS (JA$) WHEN I GET TO JAMAICA?


Once you arrive at Jewel Resorts, nearly everything is already included in the price you have paid. Please budget for items such as Spa treatments, optional tours and attractions, gift shop items, phone calls, P.A.D.I. certification or refresher courses, and local vendor purchases. US dollars are widely accepted in Jamaica and actually recommended. Most items will be priced USD, but keep in mind local vendors may not have change so we suggest you bring smaller bills.


IS THERE A SECURE PLACE TO KEEP VALUABLES?


All guest rooms have an in-room electronic safe deposit box. We advise guests to place travel documents and any other valuables in this secure place.


WHAT IS THE HURRICANE POLICY AT JEWEL RESORTS?


Jewel Resorts understands that severe weather events may cause our guests to consider changing their travel plans. With this in mind, we offer our guests the following Hurricane Policy valid from June 1 through November 30 and Inclement Weather Policy valid from January 1 to Feb 28. These policies applies only to rooms that are reserved directly with Jewel Resorts. If your reservation is made through a travel agent or travel wholesaler, please refer to the policy advised by that company.If you have products and services provided by third party suppliers included in your vacation, such as airline tickets, car rentals or vacation insurance, you will continue to be responsible for any non-refundable payments, cancellation or change fees assessed by those suppliers.

In the event that there is a Hurricane Warning for a Category 1 or higher (as defined by the U.S. National Weather Service) within the dates of your reservations and within the region where the resort is located, Jewel Resorts will offer you the following options:

  • Guests who are at the property and opt to depart early: penalties will be waived and guests will receive a credit for travel up to one year for the number of nights interrupted; to be booked through the same channel as the original reservation.

  • Guests who are scheduled to arrive at the resort and opt to cancel within 48 hours of arrival: penalties will be waived and guests will receive a credit for travel for the number of nights originally booked.

  • Guests who arrive later than the scheduled arrival day: penalties will be waived and guests will receive a credit for travel for the number of nights originally booked.


Stay credits:

  • Jewel Resorts will guarantee the original rate, inclusive of discounts and value added items for re-booked travel through December 15 of the current year and from June 1 – November 30 of the following year, subject to availability and applicable promotions.

  • The alternative stay dates must be reserved within 14 days of cancellation and will be in an equivalent room category to the one originally booked. All reservations are subject to availability and may also be subject to blackout restrictions.


This offer is subject to change and may be withdrawn at any time. Updates to this notice, along with applicable dates will be updated on our News & press section of the resort website.

The safety and well-being of guests at Jewel Resorts is of the utmost importance. Should there be an emergency, please be assured that the resort management and staff have the training, resources and experience to enable our guests to weather any storm.


WHAT IS THE SMOKING POLICY AT JEWEL RESORTS?


In accordance with Jamaican law, smoking is not allowed in the rooms including balconies, restaurants, bars or public places. If you wish to smoke, we have assigned designated smoking areas throughout the resorts.


WHAT IS THE TIPPING POLICY AT THE RESORTS?


Your all-inclusive vacation includes a service fee which is distributed amongst our staff, however, if you feel that a member of our team has gone above and beyond by offering you a stand-out exceptional service, then you are free to extend further tip to them personally.


CAN I DRINK THE WATER?


Tap water is safe to drink because it is filtered and chlorinated.

Xamayca" is the name that the first Jamaicans, the Tainos, gave to this country. It means "Land of Wood and Water", and for good reason; Jamaica has hundreds of spring and rivers, both above and underground. Over the years, Jamaica has developed extensive water treatment and supply systems; island wide, so all drinking water in Jamaica is purified and filtered by modern methods. Our water is safe for you to drink, clean your teeth, bathe and wash clothing in. If you choose not to drink the water, rest assured; there are many brands of Jamaican spring water that meet or exceed the highest international standards, available at most shops and restaurants for an additional fee.


IS THERE A NURSE ON PROPERTY?


There is a Registered Nurse on the premises with scheduled hours. Should you need medical attention, there is a doctor on call 24-hours a day. You will be responsible for all charges for medical services provided on property, or if the doctor is called or if a prescription is needed. All hospital services referred are at an additional cost.


WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO CHECK IN AT THE RESORTS?

At Jewel Paradise Cove the minimum age to check in is 18 years old.

HOW FAR ARE THE RESORTS FROM KINGSTON AND MONTEGO BAY AIRPORTS?


Jewel Paradise Cove is approximately 75 minutes from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ), and 3 hours from Norman Manley (Kingston) International Airport (KIN).

IS PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE RESORT?


Complimentary parking is offered to all guests.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR THE DIFFERENT RESTAURANTS?

Aquamarina Beach Bar and Grill: Bare feet and bathing suits welcome.
Court Jesters: Casual wear including swimwear.
Coral Café: For Lunch: Resort Day Casual – Shorts or jeans, swimwear must be covered, no bare feet.
Coral Café: For Dinner: Resort Evening Casual – Smart evening wear; slacks, skirts or dress shorts and sandals welcome.
Jade Samurai and Moonstone: Resort Casual: smart evening wear; slacks, skirts or dress shorts and sandals welcome.
Platinum: In keeping with the ambiance, we ask that you dine in Casual Elegant dress: summer or cocktail dress, slacks or skirt and nice top for women. Dress or khaki pants or tailored shorts, shirts with sleeves and collars and dress shoes for men. Jeans, shorts, sleeveless shirts, t-shirts, caps, sneakers or, flip flops are not allowed.

DO I NEED TO MAKE DINNER RESERVATIONS?


Only at the Jade Samurai. The Teppanyaki style live cooking with chop-chop entertainment has set seating times. Reservations can be made while on property

IF I AM A VEGETARIAN OR HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS, WILL I HAVE ADEQUATE OPTIONS?


All of our restaurants offer cuisine vegetarian options and our chefs are happy to assist with options designed for your special needs.

At Jewel Paradise Cove we have adjoining rooms on all buildings; this may be requested at the time of booking and is subject to availability.


IS THE RESORT FAMILY FRIENDLY?


Jewel Paradise Cove are adults-only resorts and require all guests to be at least 18 years of age.


WHAT ROOM CATEGORY DO I RESERVE TO ENJOY YOUR BUTLER SERVICE?


Junior Butler Suite and Oceanfront Butler Suite are the Butler serviced suites at Jewel Paradise Cove.


WHAT IS JEWEL RESORTS BUTLER SERVICE?

You have access to a personal butler to take care of all your on-island arrangements beginning with a special greeting upon arrival, in-suite check-in, room service, special dinner reservations, a cell phone to access your butler.

Jewel Paradise Cove offers three (3) wheelchair accessible rooms, please make the request at time of booking. The property does not feature elevators. All public areas are wheelchair accessible with the exception of the Disco and the Piano Bar

Topless sunbathing is not recommended as public nudity is against the law in Jamaica.
